Deadpool (2016)
Deadpool is a 2016 American superhero film directed by Tim Miller, produced by Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner, and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The film stars Ryan Reynolds (who also co-produced), Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Leslie Uggams, and Brianna Hildebrand. In Deadpool, Wade Wilson hunts the man who gave him an accelerated healing factor but also a scarred physical appearance.A former Special Forces operative turned mercenary is subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopting the alter ego Deadpool.
The film was also a commercial success, grossing over $783 million worldwide and breaking numerous box-office records, becoming the eighth highest-grossing film of 2016, the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time when unadjusted for inflation and the highest-grossing X-Men film. Shortly after the film’s success, Fox ordered development of a sequel.
