A Family Man (2016)
A Family Man (previously The Headhunter’s Calling (working title)) is a 2016 American drama film directed by Mark Williams and written by Bill Dubuque. The film stars Gerard Butler, Willem Dafoe, Anupam Kher, Alfred Molina, Alison Brie, and Gretchen Mol. Principal photography began on October 26, 2015 in Toronto. It screened at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.
Dane Jensen (Gerard Butler) was a successful Chicago-based corporate headhunter who works at the Blackridge Recruitment agency. He had no time for his family and only time to arrange jobs for engineers and help people find their calling, until he got his calling to go home. After his boss Ed Blackridge (Willem Dafoe) retires, Dane finally achieves his longtime goal of taking over the company after going head-to-head with his ambitious rival Lynn Vogel (Alison Brie). However, upon taking over the company he worked so hard to be in control of, Dane’s 10-year-old son Ryan (Maxwell Jenkins) is suddenly diagnosed with cancer and his professional priorities at work and personal priorities at home begin to clash with one another.
