Rings (2017)

Rings is a 2017 American supernatural psychological horror film directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez, written by David Loucka, Jacob Aaron Estes, and Akiva Goldsman, and starring Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Vincent D’Onofrio, Aimee Teegarden and Bonnie Morgan. It is the third feature-length film in the American Ring franchise, following The Ring (2002) and The Ring Two (2005).

Principal photography began on March 23, 2015, in Atlanta. The film was released in the United States on February 3, 2017, was panned by critics and has grossed $30 million worldwide.

 

A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a movie within the movie that no one has ever seen before.
