Popstar : Never Stop Never Stopping (2016)
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is a 2016 American musical comedy mockumentary film directed by Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone and written, produced by and starring Andy Samberg, Schaffer and Taccone. Also produced by Judd Apatow, it co-stars Sarah Silverman, Tim Meadows, Imogen Poots, Joan Cusack and Maya Rudolph.
The film was released on June 3, 2016 by Universal Pictures and received generally positive reviews from critics but has thus far grossed just $9.5 million against a budget of $20 million.
Childhood friends Conner (Andy Samberg), Owen (Jorma Taccone) and Lawrence (Akiva Schaffer) found fame and fortune after forming the hip-hop group the Style Boyz. Owen and Lawrence faded into the background when frontman Conner left the band to launch a successful solo career. Now, the egotistical singer decides to film a documentary about his life while he’s still on top. When his second album flops, the camera is there to capture his world come crashing down.
