Blindspotting<\/b><\/i> is a 2018 American comedy-drama<\/a> film written, produced by and starring Daveed Diggs<\/a> and Rafael Casal.[2]<\/a><\/sup> Carlos L\u00f3pez Estrada<\/a> directs while Janina Gavankar<\/a>, Jasmine Cephas Jones<\/a>, Ethan Embry<\/a>, Tisha Campbell-Martin<\/a>, Utkarsh Ambudkar<\/a>, and Wayne Knight<\/a> also star. The plot follows a parolee with three days left on his sentence, only to have him witness a police shooting that threatens to ruin a lifelong friendship. Casal and Diggs, childhood friends in real-life, wrote the screenplay in the mid-2000s, initially to speak for the city of Oakland<\/a> which they felt was often misrepresented in film. After years of setbacks, the pair’s schedules finally allowed them to make the film, with principal photography<\/a> beginning in June 2017.<\/p>\n

Collin must make it through his final three days of probation for a chance at a new beginning in his Oakland, Calif., neighborhood. His bond with his volatile best friend soon gets tested when Collin sees a police officer shoot a suspect in the back during a chase through the streets. Things soon come to a head when the buddies attend a party at the upscale home of a young and wealthy tech entrepreneur.<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
