Interstellar<\/b><\/i> is a 2014 science fiction film<\/a> directed, co-written, and co-produced by Christopher Nolan<\/a>. It stars Matthew McConaughey<\/a>, Anne Hathaway<\/a>, Jessica Chastain<\/a>, Bill Irwin<\/a>, Ellen Burstyn<\/a>, and Michael Caine<\/a>. Set in a dystopian<\/a> future where humanity is struggling to survive, the film follows a group of astronauts<\/a> who travel through a wormhole<\/a> in search of a new home for humanity. Brothers Christopher and Jonathan Nolan<\/a> wrote the screenplay, which had its origins in a script Jonathan developed in 2007. Christopher produced Interstellar<\/i> with his wife, Emma Thomas<\/a>, through their production company Syncopy<\/a>, and with Lynda Obst<\/a> through Lynda Obst Productions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Earth’s future, a global crop blight and second Dust Bowl are slowly rendering the planet uninhabitable. Professor Brand (Michael Caine), a brilliant NASA physicist, is working on plans to save mankind by transporting Earth’s population to a new home via a wormhole. But first, Brand must send former NASA pilot Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and a team of researchers through the wormhole and across the galaxy to find out which of three planets could be mankind’s new home.<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
