Through a twenty-first century lens, the series explores the dark, manipulative and misogynistic world of Versailles. Travelling deep inside Marie Antoinette\u2019s head throughout the series, discovering who she is through her internal voice that often contrasts with the dramatic situations she finds herself in.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Marie Antoinette<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is an historical drama television series created and written by\u00a0Deborah Davis<\/a>, writer of\u00a0The Favourite<\/a><\/i>. It is produced by the\u00a0BBC<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Canal+<\/a>\u00a0and based on the life of the last queen of France before the\u00a0French Revolution<\/a>, who was 14-years old when she became\u00a0Dauphine of France<\/a>\u00a0upon her marriage to the heir apparent, Louis-Auguste. The first series premiered in France during October 2022 and in the UK on 29 December, and consists of eight episodes.
