Nier: Automata<\/b><\/i>[b]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0is a 2017\u00a0action role-playing game<\/a>\u00a0developed by\u00a0PlatinumGames<\/a>\u00a0and published by\u00a0Square Enix<\/a>. It is a sequel to the 2010 video game\u00a0Nier<\/a><\/i>, itself a spin-off and sequel of the\u00a0Drakengard<\/a><\/i>\u00a0series. The game originally released for the\u00a0PlayStation 4<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Windows<\/a>\u00a0via\u00a0Steam<\/a>, with an\u00a0Xbox One<\/a>\u00a0port being published the following year with the subtitle\u00a0Become As Gods Edition<\/b><\/i>.<\/p>\n

Announced at the 2015\u00a0Electronic Entertainment Expo<\/a>,\u00a0Nier: Automata<\/i>\u00a0received media expansions to its world and narrative, and both\u00a0downloadable content<\/a>\u00a0and crossovers with other games post-release. The localization was handled by\u00a08-4<\/a>, translators of the first\u00a0Nier<\/i>. The game was praised for its story and themes, gameplay, and music. Criticism was leveled at some visual and technical problems. The PC release saw a mixed response due to technical issues that were not officially addressed.
