Alone in Berlin<\/b><\/i> is a 2016 war<\/a> drama<\/a> film directed by Vincent P\u00e9rez<\/a> and written by P\u00e9rez and Achim von Borries<\/a>, based on the 1947 fictionalized novel Alone in Berlin<\/a><\/i> by Hans Fallada<\/a>. The novel’s characters Otto and Anna Quangel are based on the real lives of Otto and Elise Hampel<\/a>. When their son dies in France, the couple start writing postcards to urge people to protest against Adolf Hitler<\/a> and the Nazi regime<\/a>. The film stars Emma Thompson<\/a>, Brendan Gleeson<\/a>, and Daniel Br\u00fchl<\/a>. Principal photography<\/a> began on 27 March 2015 in Berlin<\/a>. It was selected to compete for the Golden Bear<\/a> at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n
