Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life<\/b><\/i> is a 2016 American family<\/a> comedy film<\/a> directed by Steve Carr<\/a> and written by Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer<\/a> and Kara Holden, based on the 2011 novel of the same name<\/a> by James Patterson<\/a> and Chris Tebbetts<\/a>. The film stars Griffin Gluck<\/a>, Lauren Graham<\/a>, Rob Riggle<\/a>, Retta<\/a>, Thomas Barbusca, Andy Daly<\/a> and Adam Pally<\/a>, and follows a middle school student who sets out to break every one of the many rules made by his strict principal.<\/p>\n

Principal photography<\/a> began on November 21, 2015 in Atlanta<\/a>, Georgia<\/a>. Lionsgate<\/a> released the film on October 7, 2016. It received mixed reviews and has grossed over $20 million.<\/p>\n

Rafe Khatchadorian (Griffin Gluck) has an epic imagination and a slight problem with authority, and these things collide when he transfers to a middle school where students are expected to follow the rules. This doesn’t sit well with Rafe. With help from his new friend Leo (Thomas Barbusca), the mischievous lad concocts schemes to drive his tyrannical principal (Andy Daly) crazy while also using his charm and wits to impress a girl (Isabela Moner) and battle the bullies.<\/div><\/div>\n
