The Outpost<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is a 2020 American\u00a0war<\/a>\u00a0drama<\/a>\u00a0film directed by\u00a0Rod Lurie<\/a>, based on a 2012 non-fiction book,\u00a0The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor<\/i>\u00a0by\u00a0Jake Tapper<\/a>\u00a0about the\u00a0Battle of Kamdesh<\/a>. It stars\u00a0Orlando Bloom<\/a>,\u00a0Scott Eastwood<\/a>,\u00a0Caleb Landry Jones<\/a>,\u00a0Milo Gibson<\/a>, and\u00a0Jack Kesy<\/a>. The film was scheduled to premiere at the 2020\u00a0South by Southwest Film Festival<\/a>, but the festival was cancelled due to the\u00a0COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>. The film was released via\u00a0video on demand<\/a>, as well as in select theaters, on July 3, 2020.<\/p>\n

A small unit of U.S. soldiers, alone at the remote Combat Outpost Keating, located deep in the valley of three mountains in Afghanistan, battles to defend against an overwhelming force of Taliban fighters in a coordinated attack. The Battle of Kamdesh, as it was known, was the bloodiest American engagement of the Afghan War in 2009 and Bravo Troop 3-61 CAV became one of the most decorated units of the 19-year conflict.<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
