The film stars Parker Sawyers<\/a> and Tika Sumpter<\/a> as a young Barack Obama<\/a> and Michelle Robinson<\/a>, respectively, and focuses on the couple’s first date on an evening in 1989.<\/p>\n

Principal photography<\/a> began in July 2015 in Chicago<\/a>. The film premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival<\/a>, and was theatrically released on August 26, 2016, by Miramax<\/a> and Roadside Attractions<\/a>.<\/p>\n
