The Turning<\/b><\/i> is a 2020 supernatural horror film<\/a> directed by Floria Sigismondi<\/a> and written by Carey and<\/a> Chad Hayes<\/a>. It is a modern adaptation of the 1898 ghost story The Turn of the Screw<\/a><\/i> by Henry James<\/a>.[4]<\/a><\/sup> Steven Spielberg<\/a> also serves as an executive producer. It stars Mackenzie Davis<\/a>, Finn Wolfhard<\/a>, Brooklynn Prince<\/a>, and Joely Richardson<\/a>, and follows a young governess in the 1990s who is hired to watch over two young children after their parents’ deaths. The film first entered development in March 2016 and was described as a passion project for Steven Spielberg<\/a>, who wanted to be involved in a horror film again. The film adaptation went through two phases of production: first as Haunted<\/i> with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo<\/a> attached as director, then renamed as The Turning<\/i> with Sigismondi. Filming took place in Ireland from February through April 2018.<\/p>\n
