Immortals<\/b><\/i> is a 2011 American epic<\/a> fantasy<\/a> action film<\/a> directed by Tarsem Singh<\/a> and starring Henry Cavill<\/a>, Freida Pinto<\/a>, and Mickey Rourke<\/a>.[2]<\/a><\/sup> The film also stars Luke Evans<\/a>, Steve Byers<\/a>, Kellan Lutz<\/a>, Joseph Morgan<\/a>, Stephen Dorff<\/a>, Daniel Sharman<\/a>, Alan van Sprang<\/a>, Isabel Lucas<\/a>, Corey Sevier<\/a>, and John Hurt<\/a>. The film was previously named Dawn of War<\/i> and War of the Gods<\/i> before being officially named Immortals<\/i>, and is loosely based on the Greek myths<\/a> of Theseus<\/a>, the Minotaur<\/a> and the Titanomachy<\/a>. Principal photography began in Montreal on April 5, 2010. The film was released in 2D and in 3D<\/a> (using the Real D 3D<\/a> and Digital 3D<\/a> formats) on November 11, 2011 by Relativity Media<\/a>, becoming a commercial success at the box office. It received mixed to negative reviews, with critics praising Tarsem’s direction and visuals, acting, action sequences, production and costume design, and music, but criticized the film’s storytelling, script and the lack of character development.<\/sup><\/p>\n
