The Goldfinch<\/b><\/i> is a 2019 American drama<\/a> film directed by John Crowley<\/a> and written by Peter Straughan<\/a>, adapted from the 2013 novel of the same name<\/a> by Donna Tartt<\/a>. The film stars Ansel Elgort<\/a> as a young man whose life is transformed after his mother dies in a terrorist bomb attack at a museum, from which he takes a famous painting called The Goldfinch<\/a><\/i>. Oakes Fegley<\/a>, Aneurin Barnard<\/a>, Finn Wolfhard<\/a>, Sarah Paulson<\/a>, Luke Wilson<\/a>, Jeffrey Wright<\/a>, and Nicole Kidman<\/a> appear in supporting roles. Film rights to\u00a0the novel\u00a0were sold to\u00a0Warner Bros.<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0RatPac Entertainment<\/a>\u00a0with ICM Partners brokering the deal. Two years later, Crowley\u00a0was hired to direct the film adaptation and Elgort was selected to portray the lead role of Theodore Decker; much of the rest of the cast joined from October 2017 to January 2018. Filming began in\u00a0New York City<\/a>\u00a0in January 2018,\u00a0before moving to\u00a0Albuquerque<\/a>\u00a0in April 2018 for the rest of production.<\/p>\n
