The 2019 Dororo<\/a><\/b><\/i> anime<\/a> series is based on the manga<\/a> of the same name by Osamu Tezuka<\/a>. The adaptation departs from the source material in several ways, but follows the basic premise of the manga; A young ronin<\/a><\/i> named Hyakkimaru along with a young urchin, Dororo, must face multiple demons in Sengoku-era Japan who have stolen his various body parts in order to get them back. The 24-episode series aired January 7 to June 24, 2019 on Tokyo MX<\/a>, BS11<\/a>, and Jidaieki Senmon Channel, and is streamed exclusively worldwide on Prime Video<\/a>.[1]<\/a><\/sup>[2]<\/a><\/sup>Kazuhiro Furuhashi<\/a> directs the series, with Yasuko Kobayashi<\/a> handling series composition, Satoshi Iwataki handling character designs, and Yoshihiro Ike composing the music. Twin Engine produces the series.[3]<\/a><\/sup> The opening theme “Kaen” (\u706b\u708e<\/span>) is performed by Queen Bee<\/a>, while the ending theme “Sayonara Gokko” (\u3055\u3088\u306a\u3089\u3054\u3063\u3053<\/span>) is performed by Amazarashi<\/a>. The second opening “Dororo<\/a>” (\u3069\u308d\u308d<\/span>) is performed by Asian Kung-Fu Generation<\/a> and the second ending theme “Yamiyo” (\u95c7\u591c<\/span>) is performed by Eve. The series reinterprets some stories which also appear in the 1969 TV series<\/a>, for example The Story of Bandai<\/i> which was spread across two episodes in the first series, but completed within one episode in the 2019 series. Additionally, Dororo is only revealed to be a girl in the last episode of the 1969 series, but this is revealed by Episode 9 of the 2019 series.<\/p>\n
