Some Like It Hot<\/b><\/i> is a 1959 American black and white<\/a> romantic comedy<\/a> film set in 1929, directed and produced by Billy Wilder<\/a>, starring Marilyn Monroe<\/a>, Tony Curtis<\/a>, and Jack Lemmon<\/a>. The supporting cast includes George Raft<\/a>, Pat O’Brien<\/a>, Joe E. Brown<\/a>, Joan Shawlee<\/a>, and Nehemiah Persoff<\/a>. The screenplay by Billy Wilder<\/a> and I.A.L. Diamond<\/a> is based on a screenplay by Robert Thoeren and Michael Logan from the French film Fanfare of Love<\/a><\/i>. The film is about two musicians who dress in drag<\/a> in order to escape from mafia<\/a> gangsters<\/a> whom they witnessed commit a crime inspired by the Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre<\/a>.\u00a0Some Like It Hot<\/i> opened to largely positive reviews and is today considered to be one of the greatest films of all time<\/a>.[2]<\/a><\/sup> The film received six Academy Award<\/a> nominations, including Best Actor<\/a>, Best Director<\/a> and Best Adapted Screenplay<\/a>. After witnessing a Mafia murder, slick saxophone player Joe (Tony Curtis) and his long-suffering buddy, Jerry (Jack Lemmon), improvise a quick plan to escape from Chicago with their lives. Disguising themselves as women, they join an all-female jazz band and hop a train bound for sunny Florida. While Joe pretends to be a millionaire to win the band’s sexy singer, Sugar (Marilyn Monroe), Jerry finds himself pursued by a real millionaire (Joe E. Brown) as things heat up and the mobsters close in.<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
