Serenity<\/b><\/i> is a 2019 American neo-noir<\/a> thriller film<\/a> written, produced and directed by Steven Knight<\/a>. The film stars Matthew McConaughey<\/a>, Anne Hathaway<\/a>, Diane Lane<\/a>, Jason Clarke<\/a>, Djimon Hounsou<\/a>, and Jeremy Strong<\/a>, and follows a fishing boat captain who is approached by his ex-wife to murder her abusive new husband. First announced in January 2017, principal photography on the film began on the Island of Mauritius<\/a> that July.\u00a0Serenity<\/i> was released in the United States on January 25, 2019, by Aviron Pictures<\/a>. The film has received negative reviews, with critics lamenting the ludicrous twists, self-serious approach and poor script, although some said it had so-bad-it’s-good<\/a> qualities.<\/p>\n

Baker Dill is a fishing boat captain who leads tours off of the tranquil enclave of Plymouth Island. His peaceful life is soon shattered when his ex-wife Karen tracks him down. Desperate for help, Karen begs Baker to save her — and their young son — from her abusive husband. She wants him to take the brute out for a fishing excursion — then throw him overboard to the sharks. Thrust back into a life that he wanted to forget, Baker now finds himself struggling to choose between right and wrong.<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
