Miss Bala<\/b><\/i> (Spanish: Miss Bullet<\/i>) is a 2019 action<\/a> thriller<\/a> film directed by Catherine Hardwicke<\/a> and written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, based on the 2011 Mexican film of the same name<\/a>.[2]<\/a><\/sup> The film stars Gina Rodriguez<\/a>, Ismael Cruz C\u00f3rdova<\/a>, and Anthony Mackie<\/a>, and follows a woman who trains to take down a Mexican drug cartel after they kidnap her friend. The film was released in the United States on February 1, 2019, by Columbia Pictures<\/a>. While Rodriguez’s performance received some praise, critics compared the film unfavorably to the original, saying it suffered from “bland action and predictable story beats”<\/p>\n

Young Gloria seeks help from the police when cartel hit men kidnap her friend from a nightclub in Mexico. She soon finds herself in big trouble when a corrupt cop hands her over to the same goons who shot up the place. Their gang leader, Lino, decides to use Gloria for his dirty work to avoid detection from the Drug Enforcement Administration. Determined to get away, Gloria must now play a dangerous game to outwit not only the cartel, but the DEA agents who suspect her of complicity.<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
