The film follows Sweety Chaudhary, a <a title=\"Closeted\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Closeted\">closeted<\/a> lesbian, and traces her attempts to <a title=\"Coming out\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Coming_out\">come out<\/a> to her religious and traditional Punjabi family.\u00a0<a title=\"Principal photography\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Principal_photography\">Principal photography<\/a> for <i>Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga<\/i> began at <a title=\"Patiala\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Patiala\">Patiala<\/a> in January 2018. It marked the Bollywood debut of Cassandra, and the first collaboration between real-life father and daughter Anil and Sonam. It was the first mainstream Indian film to deal with a lesbian relationship. The film&#8217;s title was derived from the song of the same name from <i><a title=\"1942: A Love Story\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1942:_A_Love_Story\">1942: A Love Story<\/a><\/i> (1994). The soundtrack was composed by <a title=\"Rochak Kohli\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rochak_Kohli\">Rochak Kohli<\/a> with lyrics written by Gurpreet Saini. <i>Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa
