It is the twentieth <a title=\"List of Dragon Ball films\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_Dragon_Ball_films\"><i>Dragon Ball<\/i> feature film<\/a> overall, the third produced with Toriyama&#8217;s direct involvement, and the first to carry the <i><a title=\"Dragon Ball Super\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dragon_Ball_Super\">Dragon Ball Super<\/a><\/i> branding. Set after the events of the <a title=\"List of Dragon Ball Super episodes\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_Dragon_Ball_Super_episodes#Universe_Survival_Saga_(2017\u20132018)\">Universe Survival Saga<\/a> depicted in <i>Dragon Ball Super<\/i>, the film follows series protagonists <a title=\"Goku\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Goku\">Goku<\/a> and <a title=\"Vegeta\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vegeta\">Vegeta<\/a> as they encounter a powerful <a title=\"Saiyan (Dragon Ball)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Saiyan_(Dragon_Ball)\">Saiyan<\/a> named <a title=\"Broly\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Broly\">Broly<\/a>. In the beginning, it tells the history of the Saiyans and the background story of these three Saiyans with different destinies connected to the turbulent period of their race, and later resulting in a massive fight between them.<sup id=\"cite_ref-title_reveal_1-1\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dragon_Ball_Super:_Broly#cite_note-title_reveal-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup> The film represents the first canonical appearance of Broly, following the character&#8217;s appearances in the non-canon films <i><a title=\"Dragon Ball Z: Broly \u2013 The Legendary Super Saiyan\"
