Mary Poppins Returns<\/b><\/i> is a 2018 American musical<\/a> fantasy film<\/a> directed by Rob Marshall<\/a>, with a screenplay written by David Magee<\/a> and a story by Magee, Marshall, and John DeLuca. Based on the book series Mary Poppins<\/a><\/i> by P. L. Travers<\/a>,[1]<\/a><\/sup> the film is a sequel to the 1964 film Mary Poppins<\/a><\/i>, and stars Emily Blunt<\/a> as the eponymous character<\/a> with Lin-Manuel Miranda<\/a>, Ben Whishaw<\/a>, Emily Mortimer<\/a>, Julie Walters<\/a>, Dick Van Dyke<\/a>, Angela Lansbury<\/a>, Colin Firth<\/a>, and Meryl Streep<\/a> in supporting roles as well as introducing Joel Dawson and Tarik Frimpong in their film debut. Set in 1930s London, twenty-five years after the events of the original film, it sees Mary Poppins, the former nanny of Jane and Michael Banks, returning after a family tragedy.<\/p>\n

Decades after her original visit, the magical nanny returns to help the Banks siblings and Michael’s children through a difficult time in their lives.<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n
